A virtual exchange with our partner school in India on mindfulness

On the 17th of October our year 4 classes had the opportunity to exchange thoughts and ideas with two year 5 classes from Vega School, our partner school in India, on the importance of mental health. This year we implemented a system about associating feelings with colours: green-happiness, yellow-excitement, blue-sadness and red-anger. We encourage children to embrace their emotions and to understand that they are normal, but we also want to help them find different strategies to navigate more challenging emotions.  At Vega School children start each day with a 5-minute meditation and they learn about the importance of understanding their feelings, what triggers them and how they can embrace them. Our students were able to ask questions and find out more about mindfulness and Miss Khan, a teacher from India, led a short meditation and the children taught our students different breathing techniques.
