On Friday 22nd April, New City celebrated Earth Day! In assembly, the eco-warriors and Mrs Jukes explained the purpose of Earth Day, and launched a poster competition celebrating UK wildlife and an inter-class competition to see who could grow the tallest sunflower. In KS1 and KS2 , the children then learnt more about the history of Earth Day and the importance of looking after our planet. The Hub recycled plastic bottles to send messages to pirates and Reception talked about how they could help look after the world we live in. We'd love for parents and carers to support us at home by encouraging your children to enter the poster competition, and by sending any photos of earth friendly activities you do at home, for instance planting, litter picking and re-using items to make new items, year6@newcity.boleyntrust.org.
